Experience makes the difference - Brian Barr, Ron Benn and Graham Findlay founded the business in 2001 with the shared belief that a growing low carbon economy would produce new, exciting business opportunities. The first step was the creation of Vector Wind Energy Inc., which was successfully floated on the Toronto Venture stock exchange in 2005. The Vector team was active in 8 Canadian provinces, created a wind energy development portfolio in excess of 500 MW, and was awarded 50 MW in energy contracts under competitive procurements. During that period, Rob Miller joined the team and worked on several projects in the Kingston, ON region. Vector Wind was sold in 2007 to Canadian Hydro Developers Limited, then the largest independent renewable energy developer in Canada. Projects that the Vector team founded are now operational in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario, totalling more than 200 MW.

3G Energy was created in 2007 and is currently operated by Graham Findlay alone. The company's focus has been on providing strategic as well as operational advice to indigenous clients as well as municipalities and industrial clients on the creation of renewable energy projects. Rob Miller, previously of the Vector days, stepped away as a partner in 3G in early 2026 after 10 years of successful work. 3G's current focus is on working with an indigenous client in the development of new power system technologies that can enhance weak rural grids. This work is supported by federal grants aimed at grid modernization.

• Graham Findlay. Graham brings his personal energy, strategic leadership plus technical background. He has a long history of offering his skills to volunteer missions and causes. In recent years he served for over a decade on the Board of the Ottawa Renewable Energy Cooperative and in the capacity of Vice President of OREC for 5 years. Previously he served on the Board of the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association for 5 years, and as an executive of OSEA in the capacity as Treasurer. A long time ago Graham earned a BSc (Civil Engineering) degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, and an MBA from University of Toronto and he is registered as a P. Eng. in Ontario.
