Home Energy Resiliency

As grid outages grow in frequency we offer solutions to make your home resilient

Canada is moving toward a 100% electrification future, and reinforcement of the existing distribution grid will lag behind growing electrical demand. Adding to the fun of potential brownouts are growing occurences of extreme weather events that will challenge grid operators to keep the electrons flowing.
OK, so what does this mena for you and your home? Answer: less relaiable grid power. Power outages.

Making your home resilient against power loss is becoming more of a priority, and ever cheaper as equipment options grow. 3G Energy recommends that you consider equipment that meets the expectations of a carbon free or Net Zero world that is coming. We offer alternatives to deploying internal combustion generators, and if you must deploy an ICE unit, we offer ways to minimize its use with battery storage and solar PV energy.

Check out the SolarEdge Home Hub Inverter

The award-winning SolarEdge Home Hub Inverter puts record breaking energy efficiency and control at the center of your home energy ecosystem delivering more power, hour after hour. One power platform that’s solar-ready, battery-ready, electric vehicle-ready, and future-ready.

  • Converts DC solar energy to AC and injects into the grid, and/or charges your batteries when the sun is shining. 99% efficient conversion.
  • Emergency power. When the grid goes down, the device operates DC-coupled battery storage plus whatever solar PV generation is available for full or partial home backup.
  • Will draw energy from the grid to charge batteries, on your schedule. Why is this important? Ontario is getting ultra-low nighttime energy rates starting November 2023. This device will (eventually) charge your batteries to take advantage of the low rates and then allow you to use this energy during the day.
  • Supplies energy to the grid, on your schedule, if you are a net metering customer
  • Charges your EV, with the SolarEdge Home EV Charger
  • This device can supply up to 7.6 KW of power to the grid or up to 5 KW of continuous power from batteries/solar to the dwelling when the grid goes down. A larger device is available with supply and load ratings of 11.2 KW and 10 KW respectively.
  • This device can manage up to 15 KW of generation from solar modules or other DC generator systems.
  • Operates with SolarEdge power optimizers on the solar modules, managing complex shading situations around your dwelling
  • Small, lightweight, and easy to install
  • 12-25 year warranty

Safety:

  • Includes Arc Fault protection to North American standards
  • Includes DC voltage rapid shutdown for both Solar PV and the batteries

The Most Advanced Solar-Generator-System Available on the Market. Focussing on energy independence. And resiliency.

  • Converts DC solar energy to AC and injects into the grid, and/or charges your batteries when the sun is shining. 99% efficient conversion.
  • Battery agnostic. (but/and, no battery needed)
  • This device can supply up to 9 KW of continuous power to the grid or to the dwelling when the grid goes down.
  • This device can manage up to 13 KW of solar generation.
  • Emergency power. When the grid goes down, the device operates DC coupled battery storage plus whatever solar PV generation is available for full or partial home backup
  • Modes of Operation: Grid Sell, Off-Grid, Meter Zero, Time of Use & Peak Shaving
  • Draws energy from the grid to charge batteries, on your schedule. Why is this important? Ontario is getting ultra-low nighttime energy rates starting November 2023. This device will charge your batteries to take
  • advantage of the low rates and then allow you to use this energy during the day.
  • Can command on/off a standby generator, up to 12 KW of generator input, to charge batteries or supply dwelling loads
  • Supplies energy to the grid, on your schedule, if you are a net metering customer
  • Charges your EV
  • Remote monitoring and control
  • 12-25 year warranty; Designed & assembled in Texas, USA

Safety:

  • Includes PV Arc Fault protection to North American standards
  • Includes PV lightning protection and surge protection
  • Includes DC voltage rapid shutdown for both Solar PV and the batteries.

Battery Energy Storage

We have chosen this Canadian made battery to complement the SolArk inverter above.
This Volthium modular battery is mainly used for stand-alone houses, server rooms, telecommunication Cell towers, and micro power plants. Made from high quality LiFePo4 cells, this type of battery is compatible with all inverters on the market. It has a 10 year warranty and useful life of 15+ years, as well as average operation beyond 6000 cycles. LiFePo4 batteries (lithium-iron-phosphate, or LFP) are known to be safer (with less risk of fire), more durable (with a longer lifespan) and more flexible (able to withstand deep discharge) better than conventional lithium-ion batteries. Why are LFP batteries better than lead acid batteries? It is essential to note that a lead-acid battery should never be completely discharged at the risk of being severely damaged and drastically reducing its lifespan. On the other hand, lithium batteries can tolerate being discharged entirely without damaging lifespan or storage capacity, giving you access to the full energy storage capacity of the battery. Energy Ball Wind Turbine

Energy Ball V100 The Energy Ball is a spherical small wind turbine with a diameter of 1 meter. The Energy Ball V100 has 6 rotor blades and is suitable for installation in urban areas. It makes no noise and has no visual flicker effects. The Energy Ball V100 is installed on a free standing pole with a total height of 10 or 12 meters, or on a flat roof mast with a total height of 3 meters. Maximum power supplied to the grid is 500 Watts.

Energy Ball V200 The Energy Ball V200 has a bigger diameter than the Energy Ball V100 and delivers substantially more power. The V200 has 5 rotor blades and has a diameter of almost 2 meters. The Energy Ball V200 is suitable for installation in urban areas as it makes no noise and has no visual flicker effects.. The Energy Ball V200 is installed on a free standing pole with a total height of 12 or 15 meters. Maximum power supplied to the grid is 2250 Watts.

In Ontario, both of these units comply with provincial land use regulations and can be installed virtually anywhere.
